John Mayrose

John Mayrose (b. 1975) holds a Ph.D. in composition from Duke University and a B.M. in guitar performance from the University of South Carolina Honors College. His composition teachers have included Stephen Jaffe, Scott Lindroth, Sidney Hodkinson, and Anthony Kelley, and he has studied guitar with Christopher Berg, David Leisner, and Sharon Isbin. John's music has been played throughout North America and Australia by, among others, Duo46, the Bang on a Can All-Stars, Fireworks, pulsoptional, Duo d'amore, Metamorphosen, and the University of North Carolina Wind Symphony. His work Vivaldiana is available on Duo d'amore's CD Incantations and Inspirations. John has participated in the Aspen Music Festival, the Oregon Bach Festival, and the Bowdoin Summer Music Festival. He is the recipient of the ASCAP Morton Gould Young Composer's Award, the Aliénor Award, the William Klenz Prize in Composition, and the Mary Duke Biddle Fellowship and Bass Named Instructorship at Duke University.

John currently serves as a Postdoctoral Fellow in Music Composition at the Lawrence University Conservatory of Music.
